Cleveland's water comes from Lake Erie and is treated to be safe to drink. Even after treatment it carries dissolved hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) and residual chlorine. Our system targets the hardness and the taste, not the safety.
Yes. Softening only exchanges hardness minerals for a small amount of sodium. For drinking water we pair it with reverse osmosis, which removes nearly everything — including the added sodium — for bottle-quality water at the tap.
